VIETJET AIR PREPARES TO LAUNCH A FLIGHT CONNECTING HANOI AND PRAGUE WITH A STOPOVER IN KAZAKHSTAN

The Kazakhstan Civil Aviation Committee has officially approved the plan for the new route of Vietjet Air connecting the capital city of Hanoi with the capital city of Prague in the Czech Republic. According to information from the regulatory agency, this route is expected to commence operations on July 11, 2026, with a frequency of two flights per week, using the wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft.

The journey from Hanoi to Prague will have a layover at Almaty Airport in Kazakhstan. Notably, Vietjet Air has been granted the Fifth Freedom Right under the “Open Sky” policy of this country. The possession of this traffic right allows the airline not only to transport passengers from Vietnam but also to operate commercially, pick up and drop off passengers, and sell tickets directly for the flight between Almaty (Kazakhstan) and Prague (Czech Republic).

The establishment of the flight route with a stopover in Almaty helps optimize the operational efficiency of wide-body aircraft on intercontinental routes, while also realizing Prague Airport’s priority goal of connecting with the Southeast Asian market. The introduction of the new flight route is expected to meet the travel needs of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic, while also boosting tourist traffic and trade between the regions. Currently, the stakeholders are finalizing the last technical steps to prepare for the first flight this summer.
